Cairns - Green Island Day
I have a longer story as to why I came up to Cairns for a few days to see the southern-most part of the Great Barrier Reef. More on that another time, let’s just say, this one’s for you, Heather Lou!
It felt like a real vacation day heading out to Green Island to snorkel and roam around, spend a whole day doing the tourist thing. I was in search of perfect clear blue water and pretty fish and I found both. I landed after a 45 minute boat ride and headed for the snorkel beach. Managing the gear was enough for me, sorry no underwater photos this time. I did hop on the glass bottom boat at lunch time, so I got a few photos of turtles and other pretty fish and coral. I felt like a 6 year old, pointing out things everyone could obviously see. A magical 5 year old on our boat kept asking questions of the boat driver, keeping us all entertained.
I found a secluded quiet spot for the afternoon and listened to the water and took in the breeze. My time was short here, but I did have a good play day.
