Cologne
More Germany for me, can’t really say why I’m spending so much time in this country, but I am. I came to meet a dear friend this week in Cologne. We spent the weekend exploring, walking around the daunting and impressive Dom Cathedral area in the old town. We also made it to Brussels Square for an amazing dinner one night, where the mousse chocolate was so dark and rich and intense, there may never be another to compare. We wandered into the monthly Antique Market on the Rhine river, very impressive and enormous, filled with lovely things of all kinds, and all truly antique. Apple Strudel and expertly crafted coffee helped us sustain ourselves in the middle.
Food, yes of course, delicious food all along the way. Even our room service breakfast was incredible. The tomatoes, mushrooms and potatoes were all so fresh and bursting with flavor, we figured they must be magicians cultivating the farmland, it’s like the flavors are in technicolor.
We also hit the Lindt chocolate Museum, fun facts about cocoa butter, lethicin and how chocolate interacts with different organs in the body. And tasting, duh.
We are down south of the city a bit for the rest of the week, exploring the Zundorf area, quieter with a beautiful area along some fresh water lakes next to the Rhine.
Allez gut indeed.
