Budapest Week
I decided to spend the week in Budapest on a whim. I’ve always wanted to see this city and it has been great. I’m staying at Brody Apartments and I am almost reluctant to share the great location and value here. I made my reservation on the Hotel Tonite App, 5 nights for $338 total. The building is beautifully restored with some long term and some short term rentals. From the concrete floors and new kitchen to the roof deck and loft living room, a lot of care has gone into the preparation and design of this place. It’s quiet and yet I can step right out into the city center where everything is going on. The Brody brand has a couple other spots in town as well, I may try the Brody Studios spot tonight for entertainment.
My first night while wandering nearby, I ran into Chris and Denise from ChrisTheFreelancer.com I follow their travels on his YouTube channel and was excited to meet them in person, they were friendly and are having fun exploring Budapest this week as well. I recommend his videos, they are professionally done, easy to watch and packed with relevant information for traveling and working remotely.
I’ve explored some landmarks here and restaurants of course, I tried some Palinka last night, a very subtle Quince flavored aperitif. The Kadarka Wine Bar I visited had nice tapas as well, I tried an Onion Jam and Cured Ham and Argula tart, both delicious! I’ve also tried a couple sweet local spots for Ghoulash and Gypsy Garlic Pork, nice. The shopping ranges from high end designer to lots of small boutiques around every corner, artisan cookies to custom made Moto jackets. A couple more days of exploring here, I’ll do my best to soak it up.
